Observation binoculars - Thaliar + Original leather case - 1900-1910, 1910-1920 - Γερμανία - Busch, Emil
Antique opera / theatre binocular manufactured by Emil Busch A.G., Rathenow (Germany), one of the most important European optical manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th century.
This example is the “Thaliar” model with 3½x magnification, produced during the Belle Époque period (circa 1900–1915).
It bears an original dealer engraving:
P. W. Wheeldon
229 Boulevard Haussmann, Paris
This confirms retail sale through a luxury Parisian optician, rather than a standard factory export version.
The binocular features a brass construction with original aged patina, covered in genuine reptile leather (lizard-type), a premium material commonly used for high-end optical accessories of the period.
The lot includes the original fitted reptile leather case with textile interior and original cord.
