Painted on silk with refined gradation techniques, the work captures the quiet strength and poetic beauty associated with classical Japanese landscape painting. The scroll is signed “Kiyohara Sadateru,” a name used by the artist Morizumi Tsurana during this period, with his red seal stamped below. Morizumi Tsurana (1809–1892), originally born as Kiyohara Tokujirō, was a Japanese painter active from the late Edo into the early Meiji era. After entering the atelier of Watanabe Hiroteru, an official painter of the Tokushima domain, he later studied under Sumiyoshi Hirotada (later renamed Hirotsura), becoming one of the accomplished heirs of the Sumiyoshi school. While serving in the domain’s firearms office, he continued his painting training and was appointed a domain painter in 1844. Between 1835 and 1854, he worked under the artist name “Kiyohara Sadateru,” the signature found on this scroll. The rollers are made of bone. The front surface shows some foxing and areas of yellowing, and the reverse side also displays noticeable yellowing and staining from age. Fair to good antique condition. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx. H 191 cm W 69 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
