The smith, whose real name was Endo Kimiyuki of Seki in Gifu Prefecture, worked with the ambition of reviving the tradition of Bizen Osafune Ichimonji blades. As his work did not continue after the war, swords by Amahide are considered scarce and highly valuable examples of his craft. The sword is mounted in its complete set of wartime fittings. The scabbard is covered in brown leather, laced on the reverse, and fitted with a suspension ring. The interior of the scabbard bears a name inscription, and the blade is somewhat difficult to draw due to tightness. The brass tsuba is decorated with finely carved cherry blossom motifs, with natural patina. The menuki and fuchi also display cherry blossoms, symbols of the samurai spirit, renewal, and the fleeting beauty of life. The handle is wrapped in brown silk cord over white rayskin, fitted with its officer’s tassel. The koshirae ensemble is complete and original to its period. The sword comes with a copy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate, as the original will be returned to the authorities. The certificate, issued in Aichi Prefecture under number 75559 on 14 July 2016 (Heisei 28), records the blade as a katana measuring 66.5 cm in length with a curvature of 1.7 cm, signed on the front “濃州関住一文字源天秀鍛之” (Noushu Seki ju Ichimonji Minamoto Amahide saku kore), with one peg hole. The blade shows areas of rust, dark spots, and minor scratches, while the fittings and tsuba display patina from age. The scabbard leather has blemishes and wear. The storage bag has minor stains. Please refer to the photographs for the detailed condition. Note: Due to size regulations, this item cannot be shipped to 'Spain'. We ask residents there to please refrain from bidding. The display stand is not included with this lot. Total length of the blade: 88 cm Total length including scabbard: 103 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid.
