If an item exceeds the specified size or weight, it may be shipped in multiple packages. ----- Signed Ishiyama Sanshiro (1909-1996) He was born on April 28, 1909, in Yamadera, Yamagata Prefecture, as the eldest son of a skilled carpenter. Following his father’s wishes, he trained in woodturning from age 16 in Hakone, where he learned to make wooden toys. He returned to Yamadera in 1929, became independent, and later learned kokeshi painting techniques, establishing a shop near Risshaku-ji Temple. His work developed a distinctive style and was introduced in early kokeshi publications, gaining recognition among collectors. He continued producing kokeshi in Yamadera for many decades and passed away in 1996 at the age of 88. Set of 2 23-24cm Total 627g (E0891)
