Biography Haruki Nanko (1759-1839) Painter of the mid to late Edo period. Born in Ho-reki 9. A native of Edo. His family name was Yuki. Name: Kon. His nickname was Shigyo. His alias is Monya. Also known as Enka-Cho-so. Studied painting under literary figure Kimura Kenkado in Osaka. In 1788, under the orders of Mashiyama Sessai, lord of the Ise Nagashima domain, he studied in Nagasaki. And He learned painting techniques such as coloration directly from Chou Shukoku and Hi Seiko. In his later years, he became a disciple of Tani Buncho, who was four years younger than him, and excelled in landscape and flower-and-bird paintings. As a painter of literati, he was praised along with Buncho Tani at the time. His eldest son was Haruki Nanmei. Died in Tempo 10 at the age of 81.
