Exceptional Pre-Columbian talisman originated from the Taino culture of the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea. Artifact has been carved between the X-XV century from deep green serpentine stone - a material highly valued by the Taíno for its protective and spiritual properties. It depicts a stylized bird in a rounded, minimalist form, short neck with a suspension perforation and highly detailed head with a distinct projecting beak. * In Taíno cosmology, birds were regarded as sacred intermediaries between the human world and the realm of zemí spirits. Amulets bearing their image symbolized protection, guidance, and connection with ancestral forces. Such pendants were often worn by shamans (behique) and community leaders.
