Mokusen Sugie - Τσαγιέρα - Πηλός - Τσαγιέρα με βάτραχο πάνω σε Reishi
Rare Mokusen Sugie "Frog on Reishi" Tokoname Kyūsu.
A stunning and highly sculptural example of Tokoname-yaki (Tokoname ware) by the master craftsman Mokusen Sugie. This teapot is a masterpiece of functional art, meticulously hand-formed to resemble a Reishi mushroom—the "Mushroom of Immortality" in East Asian tradition.
The lid is crowned with a charming, life-like frog finial, adding a touch of nature-inspired whimsy. The rich, unglazed red clay (shudei) is the signature of the finest Tokoname teaware, prized for its ability to soften the tannins in green tea for a superior flavor.
Artist: Mokusen Sugie (杉江木仙), a celebrated name in Japanese ceramics.
Origin: Tokoname, Japan—the most famous of the "Six Ancient Kilns."
Signature: Features the artist’s authentic impressed seal located elegantly under the spout, a placement favored by master potters to maintain the visual flow of the body.
Design: Organic, asymmetrical form with a built-in ceramic strainer for precision pouring.
Condition: In very good original condition; exceptionally clean with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations.
Dimensions: Length: 9.5 cm | Width: 7.5 cm | Height: 5.0 cm.
The "Frog on Reishi" motif is a powerful symbol of longevity and good fortune. This specific teapot represents a rare opportunity to own a piece that bridges the gap between traditional Mingei (folk art) and high-end tea ceremony aesthetics.
