ETRUSCAN KYATHOS IN BUCCHERO NERO - IMPASTO Elegant Etruscan kyathos to drinking dating from the 10th to the 9th century BC, from the Villanova culture, in black terracotta (bucchero nero) with thin sides and a raised handle. The handle is finely crafted, with an opening near the lip and topped with two buttons. It is decorated with an incised decor that goes around the shoulder. Bulging bottom, with a slight hollow in the centre giving stability to the piece Blackware terracotta called "impasto", which constituted the first pottery in bucchero nero. This jug was finished with a slip varnish before being polished (probably using a wooden spatula) and then decorated with incisions and finally baked. The decoration, engraved all over the shoulder, is made up of oblique strokes. Etruria, Villanova culture
