SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS: Rosenthal, founded in 1879 in Selb (Germany), is known for high-quality porcelain and long standing collaborations with leading designers of the 20th century — theirs is a legacy of merging art and industrial design in timeless creations. Hutschenreuther, founded in 1814 in Bavaria, is one of Germany’s most prestigious porcelain manufacturers, recognized for its high-quality craftsmanship and timeless design. Over nearly two centuries, Hutschenreuther became a well-established brand known for fine dinnerware, decorative porcelain, and collectible items. On 1 August 2000 the Hutschenreuther “Lion Brand” was brought under the umbrella of the Rosenthal Group, uniting two of northern Bavaria’s historic porcelain names and strengthening Rosenthal’s position as a leader in high-quality porcelain. Johan Gerard van Loon (1934–2020) was a Dutch ceramist and textile artist who became internationally renowned for his innovative approach to ceramic art and design. He studied textile design in Amsterdam and later deepened his craft through training in ceramics in Stockholm and London, working with well-known figures such as Lucie Rie and Stig Lindberg early in his career.
