* Very rare bottle * ** Les Noëls de Montbenault ** *** Richard Leroy 2022 *** Le domaine The estate Originally from the Vosges region, Richard Leroy settled in the Paris area and graduated with a degree in economics. He founded his estate with his wife Sophie in 1996, purchasing 2 hectares from a couple of winegrowers, Mr and Mrs Chêné. A wine enthusiast, he decided to change his life and moved to Anjou, in the Layon Valley, to Rablay-sur-Layon. His first plot is located in a place called Les Noëls de Montbenault. A few years later, he added a second plot, Clos des Rouliers. Richard Leroy now cultivates 2.7 hectares of Chenin and produces exclusively dry white wines. From the outset, Richard Leroy opted for organic and biodynamic farming, convinced that these practices were the best way to convey the nuances of his terroirs. This demanding winegrower aspires to "work the vines as simply as possible, because wine is nothing more than fermented grapes". The estate has been certified organic since 2002 and produces very few bottles, rare and unusual vintages with great resonance, which can sometimes confuse novices.
