Starting in 118 BC, the Western Han continuously minted various Five Zhu coins, which subsequently became the main currency circulating during the Han dynasty. In 113 BC, the central government of the Western Han standardized the casting of Five Zhu coins, known as the "Shanglin Three Officials Five Zhu." These coins featured a meticulous and elegant design, with regular and orderly shapes and fine craftsmanship. From this point, the Western Han Five Zhu coin system was officially established, marking the first time in Chinese monetary history that the state assumed control over coinage.
