2. Description
This is the only studio album released by the legendary girl group The Ronettes during their peak. Produced by the infamous Phil Spector, this record is the definitive showcase of his "Wall of Sound" production technique—a dense, layered orchestral aesthetic that revolutionized pop music.
Recorded at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood, the album features the iconic lead vocals of Veronica Bennett (later Ronnie Spector). It includes some of the most influential hits in music history, such as "Be My Baby" (often cited as the greatest pop record ever made), "Baby, I Love You," and "Walking in the Rain." The session musicians included the famous Wrecking Crew, and the backing vocals even featured a young Cher and Sonny Bono.
3. Condition
Sleeve: The front-laminated UK-printed sleeve is in Very Good Plus (VG+) condition. It shows visible ring wear and some creasing near the edges, consistent with its age. There is typical yellowing on the non-laminated back cover and minor wear along the spine and corners.
Vinyl: The record is in Near Mint (NM) condition.
4. Notes for Collectors
This is a highly collectible first Australian edition. A unique quirk of this specific release is the "hybrid" nature of the packaging:
The Sleeve: Early Australian copies used imported UK sleeves (marked HA-U 8212 and "Printed in England").
The Disc: The vinyl was pressed in Australia by E.M.I. (Australia) Limited, featuring the distinctive Australian "HAA-8212" catalog number on the labels. Unlike modern reissues, this original Mono pressing provides the authentic, punchy sound Spector intended, as the "Wall of Sound" was designed specifically for AM radio and monaural playback.
