2 Beautifull patinated bronze Edo Tribe Benin Bronze Heads .
Probably mid century reproductions.
The likeness is that of Queen Mother and Father from the historic Kingdom of Benin.
These artworks originates from the Kingdom of Benin( now southern Nigeria).
These bronzes are some of the most celebrated and historically significant artifacts in African art history. These heads were made to honor deceased Obas (kings) and often queen mothers (iyoba) and placed on altars in the royal palace.
They are crafted using the lost-wax casting technique, which the Edo people of Benin perfected centuries ago.
The tradition dates back to the 13th century, peaking artistically between the 15th and 17th century.
