The surfaces are finished in deep black urushi lacquer and decorated with refined gold makie depicting a windswept pine tree, a classic Japanese symbol of longevity, resilience, and good fortune. The pine needles and trunk are rendered with fine, confident lines, showing skilled makie workmanship rather than mass production. On the tray surface, a gold signature reading「風玉刀」(Fūgyokutō) is visible.
