Ottoman silver talismanic amulet pendant (hamail / muska) with suspended coins and charms.
19th century (circa 1850–1900).
Origin: Ottoman Empire, likely Anatolia (Turkey) or the Balkans (Bosnia / Macedonia).
Style: Ottoman folk jewellery, talismanic and protective amulet tradition within Islamic folk belief. Functional, wearable object rather than court or elite jewellery.
Materials: Low-grade Ottoman silver (typical of folk jewellery) with original dark patina. Central red stone bead, likely carnelian (agate), traditionally used against the evil eye.
Description: Hand-assembled silver chains and links supporting multiple Ottoman silver coins (tughra visible), used decoratively and not modern reproductions. Crescent-shaped charm symbolising protection and lunar power. The central red bead functions as a spacer and talismanic core.
Colours: Silver-grey metal with deep red stone accent.
