Κόκκινο πορτοκαλί ξύλινο Guinomi Sake Cup με δραματικά εφέ στάχτης. - Κεραμικό - 木村貴史 Kimura Takashi (1981-) - Ιαπωνία - 1900–2000

Item Description This captivating guinomi (sake cup) is a stunning creation by contemporary Japanese ceramic artist Kimura Takashi (1981-), showcasing his exceptional mastery of vibrant orange-red glaze known as "hi-iro" (scarlet color) combined with dramatic wood-firing effects. The piece represents Kimura's bold exploration of color and form, where intense heat transforms clay and glaze into a work of sculptural beauty. The cup features an expressively distorted, faceted form that captures the raw energy of the kiln. The dominant brilliant orange-red glaze creates a warm, luminous surface that seems to glow from within, punctuated by areas of natural ash deposits in dark grays and blacks that add depth and contrast. The glaze displays magnificent variations across the surface, with crystalline textures and iridescent sheens that catch light from every angle, reminiscent of molten lava cooling into stone. The middle section reveals fascinating kiln effects where ash has settled and fused with the glaze, creating organic patterns in earthy tones. Multiple artist's marks are impressed into the clay body, adding authenticity and character. The interior showcases a rich, glossy brown glaze pool with subtle gradations, while the unglazed foot displays the natural iron-rich clay body. This guinomi embodies the Japanese aesthetic concept of "hi-dasuki" (fire cord marks) and "yohen" (kiln transformation), where the unpredictable interaction between fire, ash, and glaze creates unique beauty that can never be exactly replicated. The sculptural, angular form combined with the fiery glaze creates a powerful visual impact that transforms the humble sake cup into a statement piece. Kimura's work is celebrated for pushing the boundaries between functional pottery and contemporary art, and this piece exemplifies his ability to harness the primal forces of fire to create objects of exceptional beauty and presence. Size Height: 6.3 cm Diameter: 7.3 cm Condition Excellent unused condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The surface displays intentional dramatic kiln effects and natural ash deposits characteristic of authentic wood-fired ceramics. Artist Profile Kimura Takashi was born in Osaka in 1981. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts Junior College, Department of Design and Fine Arts in 2001, he studied ceramic arts at Sasayama Sugiyama Pottery and served as an assistant instructor at Kobe City Ceramics Classes. In 2004, he established his independent studio in Toyono-cho, Osaka. Kimura is recognized for his innovative approach that combines abstract expressionist glazing techniques with sculptural forms, creating vessels that challenge conventional boundaries between functional pottery and contemporary art. His works are celebrated for their bold, dramatic aesthetic that transforms everyday drinking vessels into compelling artistic statements.
