Kaneshige Makoto, Maruyama kiln 1945 Born in the Inbe area of Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. He is the eldest son of Kaneshige Sozan and comes from an illustrious lineage of Bizen potters. 1968 Graduated from Kyoto University. He is known for creating Bizen ware, a traditional type of Japanese pottery. His work frequently features the distinctive hidasuki (fire-cord) markings and ash glazes resulting from the wood-fired anagama kiln process.
