Rare Universal Genève Golden Shadow Limited Edition quartz watch in remarkable near-NOS condition. The stainless-steel case measures 33.5mm and carries the elegant, ultra-slim aesthetic associated with the Shadow line, while still housing the unique Calibre 74 quartz movement. The champagne dial with crisp black Roman numerals gives the watch a refined and classic presence on the wrist. Introduced at the 1975 Basel Fair, the Universal Genève Calibre 74 was presented as the world’s thinnest quartz movement at only 3.45 mm. It was part of the super-slim “Shadow” family and remains one of the most interesting technical achievements of the period. It is also one of the brand’s rarest quartz calibers. The fact that this example still runs perfectly after nearly fifty years highlights the quality of this mechanical-quartz design. Although the watch runs strong, the service history is unknown, so a routine revision should be considered as with any vintage piece. The original caseback sticker is still present, showing the UG logo and the words LIMITED EDITION in large print. This is an important detail that emphasizes its originality and rarity. To the best of my research, there are no comparable examples currently available online, making this one of the few surviving pieces in such preserved condition. The 18mm OEM leather strap with its original stainless-steel UG buckle is in NOS condition and complements the watch perfectly. The watch itself shows only what I believe to be storage marks, along with a few dust particles embedded on the dial. The original box is included. Its hinges are broken due to age, but it remains a nice accessory to have in your collection. The included plastic tag reads 852100/30, which is the reference for the Unisonic. This helps explain why this Limited Edition Golden Shadow is constructed differently from the ultra-slim mechanical models—the quartz movement would not fit inside the thinnest Shadow cases, making this configuration even more unusual and historically interesting.
