The Csemege Company (originally Csemege Kereskedelmi Vállalat, later Csemege Édesipari Gyár) was a major Hungarian state-owned enterprise. In 1939, Julius Meinl established one of the most modern factory complexes of its time in Budapest (Budafoki út–Galvani utca). In the late 1980s, Csemege merged with the Austrian Julius Meinl, was privatized in the 1990s, and later acquired by the Belgian Delhaize Group. Its stores were renamed Match in the 2000s before eventually leaving the Hungarian market. Csemege was famous in the 1980s for its iconic gourmet counters, cheese towers, and refined delicatessen offerings. During the 1970s, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory supplied its finest porcelain to the largest state enterprises, allowing top management and political leaders to use the most elite tableware. The “Csemege” marking has strong collector’s value, as such pieces were typically owned by high-ranking executives and political figures. Herend consciously cultivated relationships with influential companies and institutions, making these marked sets historically and culturally significant. Shipping We answer every message in 1 day on customers language. We can be reached via Catawiki messenger. All items will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and double-boxed to ensure safe delivery. A rare opportunity to acquire a museum-quality Herend Victoria coffee set with exceptional provenance and collector appeal.
