Item Description This lot consists of two creative kokeshi dolls crafted by Koson Sato of Fukushima Prefecture. Each piece is hand-turned from wood and finished with a smooth, rounded form characteristic of contemporary creative kokeshi. The dolls feature a distinctive silhouette with gently elongated bodies and rounded heads topped with a small knob detail. Their bodies are decorated using a unique painting technique depicting vivid autumn maple leaves in tones of red, gold, and deep green against a dark lacquered background. The expressive brushwork and layered coloration create a rich seasonal atmosphere reminiscent of Japanese autumn landscapes. The faces are delicately rendered with fine black eyes and subtle red lips, conveying a serene expression. The artist’s signature is present on the base of each doll.
