During the Qajar period, lacquered pen cases were more than utilitarian objects: they were prestige objects, often richly decorated with figural scenes and gilt borders, reflecting the courtly culture of calligraphy and the arts. 1) Artistic features: - This example is finely painted in warm, amber-brown tones with polychrome figural scenes and landscape vignettes, framed by delicate gilded outlines.
