The front door is adorned with a finely detailed landscape scene executed in maki-e and raden (mother-of-pearl inlay). Maki-e is a traditional decorative technique in which gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create intricate imagery. Raden incorporates pieces of natural shell to introduce a soft iridescent shimmer to the surface. The design depicts a tranquil rural setting featuring a thatched-roof dwelling nestled among rocks and pine trees, with birds flying across distant mountains. Such motifs traditionally symbolise harmony with nature, longevity, and peaceful domestic life, reflecting an idealised vision of retreat from worldly concerns. The railing sections are finished with delicate openwork carving, lending visual lightness and balance to the otherwise solid structure. The cabinet door features a traditional fitted joinery mechanism. By placing a finger at the upper right section of the door and gently lifting upward while pulling, it opens smoothly. There are minor surface scratches and signs of use consistent with age. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx.
