George Harrison, Ringo Starr - Eleven early solo-cd's - Πολλαπλοί καλλιτέχνες - CD - 1968

The Beatles were all about John and Paul of course. Not really. There were two other chaps. They too made music. But it took a split to get from under the Lennon-McCartney cloud. And boy, were we in for a few surprises. On offer here eleven solo-cd’s with some of their best work. All albums are in absolute mint condition. Once played for downloading, since then always well-protected, cherished, loved and respected. George’s talent seeped through in the Beatle-days. ‘Something’ is widely considered as one of the most beautiful ballads ever. But that was only one of the few songs he could get recorded. Soon after the split he revealed all the stuff that was hiding. Here is some of it, chronologically 1. 1968 Wonderwall Music. Not only Georges solo debut, but first solo of any Beatle and first release of Apple Music. It is a largely instrumental soundtrack, mostly Indian music, part electronic. Goerge introduced popular Indian instruments on some Beatle-songs, here he uses obscure trinkets. Apple, CDP 7 98706 2, UK, 1992. Case NM, disk mint. First pressed reissue. 2. 1970 All things must pass. The triple album came right after the split containing all the old unused material George described it as ‘going to the toilet and letting it all out in one go.’ Features Isn't it a pity and My sweet lord. EMI, CDS 7 46688 8, UK, 1988, case mint, disks mint, including booklet. First pressed 3. 1973 Living in the material world went to gold the second day after its release. Less production than All things it reflects Harrison's struggle for spiritual enlightenment against his status as a superstar, as well as for what many commentators consider to be the finest guitar and vocal performances of his career. Apple, CDP 7941102, UK, 1991. Case NM, disk mint. Includes 8 page booklet. First pressed 4. 1974 Dark Horse was largely ignored because George promoted it with his first ever tour, but to the disappointment of many he did not play any Beatle songs. It is indeed dark, as Pattie Boyd just left him for Clapton. Apple, CD PAS 10008, UK, 1992. Case mint, disk mint, reissue. 5. 1975 Extra texture. Loads of friends, heavy on the Smokey Robinson influence and, surprisingly, no deep messages about spiritual affairs. Contains This guitar can’t keep from crying, a sequel to While my guitar gently weeps. Apple, CDP 7980802, UK, 1991. Reissue. Case mint, disk mint 6. 2002 Brainwashed is his last album, released after his death by son Dhani. It ended a fifteen-year silence after Cloud Nine. Half of it was written when he found out that his days were numbered due to cancer which he had previously overcome. Dark Horse Records, 7243 5 41969, 2002, Europe. Case mint, disk mint. Incl hype sticker. Surprisingly, longest living (ex-)Beatle Sir Richard Starkey released more studio albums than John and George: 21 solo and two with his All Star Band. He is considered the glue between the other three, although he was the first to temporarily leave the Beatles. He kept playing with all three on their solo-albums, but, like George, took the opportunity to release his own work. His kindness showed in the numerous guest musicians that came to his aid. 1. 1973 Ringo, his third album, stood out as it featured all three old mates on various songs that they wrote for him. Most of The Band played, as did Marc Bolan. It included singles Photograph and You’re sixteen (which would have gotten him in a lot of trouble if released now). It sold tremendously. Apple, CDP 7 95884, UK. Case mint, disk mint. 2. 1974 Goodnight Vienna had most of the same players, but no George or Paul. John wrote the title track and Elton John did one too. Parlophone, 7 80378 2 8, UK. Case mint, disk mint. 3. 1990 And his all star band. The friendliest Beatle had friends everywhere, and they’d love to play. Most of The Band, Dr. John, Clarence Clemons and Billy Preston of course. All sing their own hits. EMI, CDP 7 95372, UK. Case mint, disk mint. 4. 1992 Time takes time. Again loads of friends playing, loads of friends producing. Skunk Baxter Phil Ramone, Harry Nilsson, they came from everywhere. Private Music, 262902, Europe. Case mint, disk mint. 5. 1987 Blast from your past. Greatest hits. EMI, CDP 7 46663 2, Uk. Case mint, disk mint. As stated, all in absolute prime mint condition. Check the pics. They will be preciously packed and swiftly send.
