Five original Japanese postcards dating from the late Meiji (明治) to early Shōwa (昭和) period, pre-World War II. Each postcard features a black-and-white portrait of a young woman in traditional kimono. The subjects are posed in studio settings, some holding accessories such as a parasol or a musical instrument. The hairstyles and kimono styles reflect the refined aesthetics of early 20th-century Japan. The reverse sides show period-appropriate postcard layouts, including Japanese postal markings and “Carte Postale” print typical of export-era designs. The postcards were carefully stored in their own cardboard case. Due to their age, there is visible patina and minor deterioration consistent with antique paper items.
