Fossil Shark Tooth on Natural Matrix – Phosphate Plateau, Oued Zem – Morocco
Beautiful fossil shark tooth preserved on its original natural matrix, discovered in the famous Phosphate Plateau of Oued Zem, Morocco, one of the world's most productive fossil marine deposits.
The tooth is well preserved and prominently exposed within the rock, featuring a tall central cusp accompanied by smaller lateral cusps, characteristic of predatory sharks from this region. The enamel shows a pleasant natural coloration and glossy surface, contrasting nicely with the light sedimentary matrix.
Specimens preserved directly on their original matrix are particularly appreciated by collectors because they maintain the natural geological context in which the fossil was found.
The Moroccan phosphate deposits date from the Late Cretaceous to early Eocene (approximately 70–45 million years ago) and are renowned for producing a wide variety of well-preserved marine fossils.
Tooth size: 3.4 × 3.3 cm
A striking and authentic specimen, perfect for fossil collectors, educational collections, or decorative display.
Display stand included.
