Sandeman «Sherry Girl» πινακίδα από σμάλτο - Loxton Knight - Εμαγιέ πινακίδα - Πορσελάνη
Enamel advertising designed by Loxton Knight for Sandeman Wineries.
Loxton Knight created this Sandeman Port poster around 1925. It features a striking image of a woman in a wide-brimmed hat holding a glass of red port. Over the years, the color of the glass was changed to promote the company's sherry wines, leading her to be known as the "Sherry Girl”.
Edward Loxton Knight (1905-1993) was a versatile artist known for his watercolor, tempera, printmaking, and poster design work.
Born and raised in Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire, he attended Long Eaton Grammar School, where he received instruction and inspiration from Samuel Clegg, grandfather to the acclaimed figures Richard and David Attenborough.
Further refining his craft under the guidance of sculptor Joseph Else at Nottingham School of Art, Knight's talent earned him membership in prestigious art societies such as the Colour Gravure Society. He exhibited extensively both in Britain and abroad, with his works now housed in public collections at esteemed institutions like Nottingham Castle Museum.
