Rosenthal, Hutschenreuther - Achim Haigis - Βάζο (3) - Πορσελάνη
Dear Bidders,
I'm offering here a beautiful set of 2 porcelain vases Hutschenreuther and 1 big plate / bowl from Rosenthal.
The vases and bowl represent a contemporary, sculptural design language strongly associated with Achim Haigis and early-21st-century German design.
Their style is defined by faceted, geometric surfaces reminiscent of crystalline or origami-like structures. Sharp planes and angular folds break away from traditional smooth porcelain forms, giving the objects an almost architectural presence. The matte-gloss white porcelain enhances the play of light and shadow, so the surfaces appear to change depending on the viewing angle.
Although highly expressive, the design remains minimalist and modern, balancing sculptural impact with functional clarity. These pieces sit at the intersection of contemporary art object and usable design, characteristic of Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther productions from the 2000s–early 2010s, when experimental surface structures and reduced color palettes were a key trend in European design.
Overall, the style can be described as modern, geometric, and architectural, with a strong emphasis on material, light interaction, and three-dimensional form rather than decoration.
SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS:
Rosenthal, founded in 1879 in Selb (Germany), is known for high-quality porcelain and long standing collaborations with leading designers of the 20th century — theirs is a legacy of merging art and industrial design in timeless creations.
Founded in 1814 in Selb, Bavaria, Hutschenreuther became one of Germany’s leading porcelain manufacturers and a key representative of high-quality European porcelain. The brand is known for combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative 20th-century design. In 2000 it became part of the Rosenthal group, but pieces from the mid-century modern period remain especially sought after by collectors.
Achim Haigis (born 1969, Rottweil, Germany) is a contemporary German product and industrial designer known for his experimental, sculptural approach to form. Trained as a toolmaker and later educated in product design in Potsdam, he combines technical precision with artistic freedom. Since the early 2000s he has worked as an independent designer based in Berlin, collaborating with renowned brands such as Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther. His designs are characterized by faceted, geometric surfaces inspired by crystalline structures, creating objects that interact strongly with light and space.
