His full biography remains unrecorded. The composition uses subtle ink gradations to render layered mountains shrouded in mist, with ink tones fading from dense to light, creating a profound sense of spatial depth and embodying the yūgen aesthetic central to Japanese literati painting. A winding stream meanders through the scene, flanked by rugged slopes, craggy rocks, and dense groves of ancient trees. In the foreground, jagged rocks and waterside trees are painted with bold, dark ink strokes, creating a striking contrast of solidity and emptiness against the misty distant peaks. The focal point is a woodcutter crossing the bridge, depicted with minimal yet expressive brushwork: he shoulders a long staff, with a bundled load of firewood precisely suggested by a bold dark ink wash on his back.
