Below, a deep navy-blue cartouche carries the sponsor line "Fukoku Seimei" (フコク生命 — Fukoku Life Insurance, est. 1923), a familiar co-branding arrangement in which insurance companies funded signage for small neighbourhood shops. Both faces are identical, confirming this was a hanging-type sign designed for perpendicular mounting on a shop facade. The bold three-colour palette — red, white and navy — reads as unmistakably Japanese and makes this sign a strong graphic statement on any wall.
