Handmade wool Flat weave rug Sumac circa 1980 measuring 150 x 100 cm ( 4.9 x 3.2 ft ). Made by Uzbak weavers in samarkand region this Sumac has all the attributes from fine wave and shimmy wool used. The density of the knots and the way tightly woven are strong indications kilim made around the areas of Uzbekistan by Turkmen or Uzbek weavers. It seems it was used as hanging decor hence remained in almost good condition with very vibrant colours in strip form with patterns of guls and other geometric motifs in the panels. It has been professionally cleaned and washed.
