Seiko - Lord Matic - χωρίς τιμή ασφαλείας - 5606-7071 - Άνδρες - 1973

Presented for auction by Second Vintage The Seiko Lord Matic represents a golden era of Japanese watchmaking, perfectly bridging the gap between accessible daily wearers and the high-end luxury of the King and Grand Seiko lines. Introduced in the late 1960s, the Lord Matic series utilized the highly sophisticated 5600 caliber family, renowned for its slim profile and robust reliability. This particular example perfectly encapsulates the celebrated design language of the era, featuring sharp case lines, a beautifully balanced dial, and the enduring charm of a dual-language day-date complication. It is a quintessential vintage Seiko that offers tremendous horological value and timeless mid-century aesthetic appeal. Brand: Seiko Model: Lord Matic Reference Number: 5606-7071 Serial Number: 364597 Movement: Caliber 5606A, 23 Jewels, Automatic Dial: Silver sunburst dial with applied faceted indices, exceptionally clean and well-preserved Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: 1973 Condition: Good vintage condition with honest wear and a beautifully preserved dial Dial and Hands The dial is a striking silver sunburst that plays beautifully with the light, radiating outward from the center pinion. It features highly polished, applied faceted baton indices, each detailed with a central black stripe that perfectly matches the classic dauphine hands. The applied "SEIKO" and "LM" logos are crisp and prominent, adding a wonderful depth to the dial architecture. At the three o'clock position, a framed day-date window displays the day in both English and Kanji, a highly desirable trait for collectors of vintage Japanese horology. The printed text, including "AUTOMATIC", "23 JEWELS", the Suwa Seikosha logo, and the bottom dial codes, remains flawless and fully intact. The dial is exceptionally clean, showing virtually no major spots, moisture damage, or discoloration, presenting a highly attractive and fresh appearance. Case and Crystal The 37 millimeter stainless steel case exhibits the classic, sweeping lug profile characteristic of Seiko's 1970s design ethos. The transition between the smooth polished bezel and the sculpted lugs remains well-defined, though the case shows honest signs of normal vintage wear, including fine surface scratches and minor handling marks consistent with its age. There are no deep gouges or signs of heavy over-polishing, allowing the original geometry to shine through. The domed acrylic crystal provides a warm, vintage distortion at the edges and remains clear, offering an unobstructed view of the brilliant dial beneath. The screw-down caseback retains clear, legible factory engravings, including the Suwa logo and the serial number. Movement Powering this timepiece is the Seiko Caliber 5606A, a 23-jewel automatic movement that formed the backbone of the Lord Matic family. The rotor is clearly signed with the Seiko branding and caliber details. Visual inspection of the movement reveals a clean central architecture with typical signs of age, while the outer case track and movement spacer ring show visible tarnishing and age-related residue typical of vintage pieces from this era. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +40 to +49 seconds per day. Strap The watch is fitted with a classic black textured leather strap featuring contrasting white edge stitching. The strap complements the black accents on the dial and hands perfectly, securing to the wrist with a standard stainless steel buckle. Condition This Lord Matic is presented in good vintage condition. The dial is the absolute highlight, remaining in near-flawless visual condition with brilliant sunburst texture and clean applied furniture. The stainless steel case displays normal, honest wear with light surface scratches but retains strong overall lines. The movement is operational and intact, with visible age confined primarily to the outer spacer ring. Dimensions The case measures 37 mm in diameter excluding the crown, offering a substantial yet incredibly comfortable presence on the wrist that suits a wide variety of sizes. Remarks Finding a vintage Seiko Lord Matic with a dial this clean and vibrant is becoming increasingly difficult. The combination of the silver sunburst finish, the sharp dauphine hands, and the Kanji day wheel makes this an incredibly pure representation of 1970s Japanese design. It is a versatile and historically significant timepiece ready to be enjoyed. History Launched in 1968, the Lord Matic line was positioned directly beneath King Seiko and Grand Seiko, offering exceptional quality and advanced mechanics to the aspiring professional. The 5600 series of movements used in the LM line were so well-engineered that they were later adapted for use in higher-end Seiko chronometers. The Lord Matic remains a testament to Seiko's commitment to producing technically impressive and aesthetically beautiful watches for the everyday wearer during the peak of their mechanical innovation.
