Item Description:
This is a curated collection of three vintage creative kokeshi dolls, featuring works by two of Japan's most celebrated masters.
1. "First Love" (初恋 - Hatsukoi) by Suiho Yajima: A delicate piece depicting a youthful figure with hands clasped in prayer or contemplation, adorned with beautifully painted white and orange chrysanthemums. Signed on the bottom.
2. "Chuson-ji Souvenir" by Suigai Sato: A charming doll with a gentle expression and floral motifs, created as a special souvenir for the famous Chuson-ji Temple.
3. "Ryuga-do & Yosakoi Spirit": An expressive doll from Kochi Prefecture. The body features hand-painted calligraphy of the opening lyrics to "Yosakoi Naruko Dancing," a famous folk song telling the tragic love story of the monk Junshin and a girl named Ouma at Harimaya Bridge. It originates from the area of the Ryuga-do cave, one of Japan's three major limestone caves.
