Here for sale is a beautiful and very rare hollow-cast spelter statue in the style of Ernest Justin Ferrand, circa 1909, with applied 'bronzed' patina, depicting a woman perched on a car, holding a steering wheel in her right hand and a headlight in her left hand as an allegory for the dawn of the automobile. The figure is fixed on a wooden base imitating marble and a brass engraved plaque bearing the faded title "AUTOMOBILE" is attached to the front of the base. The lamp is detachable from the womans hand and the statue was most likely created as a trophy for the many races that were taking place around the world during the period. As stated before, this is in the style of the famed sculptor Ernest Justin Ferrand and was most likely created by him or his workshop. The dimensions of the statue are H: 72 CM, W: 14.5 CM, D: 17 CM. The condition and wear are consistent with the age of the statue(please see photos for further information). This is an incredibly rare piece and a must have for any automotive enthusiast.
