Functional in origin, it also stands out as a highly satisfying sculptural object. FORM AND PRESENCE This example follows a classic tripod format, with a gently curved elongated seat supported by two short cylindrical rear legs and one long projecting front leg. The asymmetrical structure gives the piece a particularly elegant visual tension, while the overall composition remains remarkably stable and balanced. SURFACE AND AGE The wood has developed a rich old patina, softened by long use and handling. The worn seat and rounded edges reinforce the impression of authenticity and domestic life, while the simplicity of the form allows the age and surface to speak fully.
