DESCRIPTION: Producer: Manzone Giovanni Wine: Barolo DOCG "Gramolere" Riserva Vintage: 2011 Number of Bottles: 1 Size: 3L Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo Aging: 36 Months in oak barrels of different sizes Alc.: 14.50% From Nebbiolo grapes grown and vinified by Manzone Giovanni in the Langhe, Barolo Gramolere DOCG is produced, a warm, full-bodied, and balanced red wine. The grapes come entirely from a single vineyard, in the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (Additional Geographical Indication) of Gramolere, located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. The average age of the vines is approximately 35 years, and the steep slope of the hill makes manual work essential. The vineyard producing Barolo Gramolere DOCG faces south-southwest; the soil is sandy limestone and rich in stones and fossils. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid- to late October to ensure a noble maturation of the skins and seeds. Spontaneous fermentations and slow macerations for 30-40 days do not hasten the polyphenolic extraction, which occurs as delicately as possible, using soft cap spraying. This is followed by approximately three years of barrel aging and a few months of rest in concrete tanks, before bottling during the waning moon. The first vintage produced was 1971.
