The Plona lounge chair was designed in 1970 by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli — the legendary Bologna-based design house also responsible for the Plia chair. This design is part of the permanent collection of MoMA, New York. This example features the striking red plexiglas shell — a rare and sought-after colour, significantly less common than the standard transparent or smoked versions. The single-piece moulded shell sits on a polished tubular aluminium frame with die-cast alloy hinges, allowing the chair to fold flat in seconds.
