A classic Spanish 5 Pesetas silver coin from the reign of Alfonso XIII, featuring the well-known infant portrait on the obverse and the crowned Spanish coat of arms between the Pillars of Hercules on the reverse. This type is one of the most iconic large silver issues of late 19th-century Spain.
This example is dated 1889 and belongs to the popular Alfonso XIII early portrait series. The coin is struck in .900 silver and retains clear major design elements and legends. The characteristic continuous fleur-de-lys edge decoration of the type is visible on the edge.
Condition-wise, the coin shows signs of circulation and handling, including surface hairlines, light scratches, small contact marks, and edge wear / minor nicks, as visible in the photographs. Still, it remains an attractive and collectible example of this historical Spanish silver issue.
Please examine the photos carefully for your own assessment of the condition.
