Εποχή του Χαλκού Μπρούντζος Αιχμή δόρατος με λαβή τύπου Rat-Tail (χωρίς τιμή ασφαλείας)
A fine cast bronze spearhead with a long, triangular blade with upward-sloping shoulders. The blade displays a flattened central midrib, which leads to a flat 'rat-tail' tang, curving sharply at the base. This would have been inserted into a wooden shaft. A beautiful patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with its age, such as chips to the edges of the blade and scratches to the surface.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items most often included weapons, tools, vessels and finials, but ornamental pieces such as amulets, fittings and jewellery such as pins or bracelets also feature in the material record. Early models of spearheads were designed in a flat dagger-like blades with a thin tang which would be used to attach the metal head to a wooden shaft and be tied to the body. Later designs, such as this one, would evolve to provide side support which would allow a more secure attachment to the weapon.
