Herend Apponyi dinner set (7 pieces) – hand painted, marked – 1943–44
Herend Apponyi pattern, antique 7-piece dinner set.
This elegant, exclusive-looking porcelain set is especially recommended for collectors, a classic and timeless piece.
Each piece has an intaglio Herend mark and a blue stamp on the bottom, which proves its authenticity.
The set was made in Hungary, around 1943–44.
The Apponyi pattern was created by enlarging a detail of the Indian flower basket (“Fleurs des Indes”) decor, at the request of Count Albert Apponyi. The pattern gained international recognition, including during the 1867 Paris World Exhibition, where Herend porcelain was used to set the festive tables in honor of Franz Joseph.
The decoration is entirely hand-painted and reflects the outstanding artistic standard of the Herend manufactory.
