Mino-ware - Nagira Taikyu (1935–2001) - Μπολ τσαγιού - Πήλινα

Item Description This is a beautifully hand-crafted Mino ware (Mino-yaki) matcha bowl (chawan) adorned with an elegant wisteria blossom (fujibana) design, created by Nagira Taikyu of Jukou-gama kiln in Shimane Prefecture. The decoration is inspired by the celebrated National Treasure Iro-e Fujibana-mon Chatsubo (Color-Glazed Tea Jar with Wisteria Design) by the legendary Edo-period master Nonomura Ninsei — widely regarded as the pinnacle of Japanese ceramic art. Graceful cascades of wisteria blossoms in deep reddish-purple and warm amber-orange fall gently through lush teal-green foliage, all rendered against a warm ivory crackle-glazed ground. A delicate interlaced vine border traces the rim, adding a refined and noble finishing touch. The fine craquelure of the glaze surface lends the piece a quiet, aged elegance entirely in keeping with the spirit of the Japanese tea ceremony. Size Height: 7.5 cm Width: 12.5 cm (diameter) Weight 233.8 g Condition The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs; the crackle glaze (kannyu) is an intentional and characteristic feature of the ware, not damage. Artist Profile 柳楽泰久 Nagira Taikyu (1935–2001) was the founder of Jukou-gama (寿康窯), established in 1967 in Taki-cho, Shimane Prefecture. The kiln's name was bestowed by Tabé Chōuemon Shōrotei, a former governor of Shimane Prefecture — a distinction that speaks to the cultural standing of the kiln. In 1975, the kiln relocated to a hillside along the southern shore of Lake Shinji (Shinjiko), where it continued to operate. Nagira was a distinguished member of the Japan Kogei Association (日本工芸会), winning the Encouragement Prize at the 20th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition in 1973 and the prestigious Kaneshige Toyo Prize at the 33rd Traditional Crafts Exhibition of the Chugoku Region in 1990, among numerous other accolades. Working with locally sourced Kimachi stone powder as a key glaze material, he produced tea ceramics and tableware in a wide range of glazes including iraboyaki-style, iron glaze, kohiki white slip, and oribe, earning recognition as one of Shimane Prefecture's most important ceramic artists. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shipping & Important Notice [Shipping] Your item will be carefully packaged and shipped from Japan via Japan Post, DHL, or FedEx with a tracking number.
