Dial and Hands
The dial is a masterclass in vintage execution, featuring a stunning green gradient that transitions from a lighter center to darker edges. Applied, faceted silver-tone indices provide excellent depth and catch the light beautifully. The classic Rado rotating anchor logo is positioned prominently below the 12 o'clock marker, functioning as designed. The dial text, including the applied "RADO" and printed "Kapell," remains crisp and legible. The hands are polished and faceted, complementing the indices perfectly, and the date window at 3 o'clock features a clean, red-numbered display. The dial appears exceptionally clean, free from notable spots, moisture marks, or significant degradation.
Case and Crystal
The 38mm stainless steel cushion case is a quintessential example of 1970s design. The case displays strong, well-defined lines with a pleasing contrast between the brushed upper surfaces and the polished flanks. The integrated lug design adds to the watch's substantial wrist presence. Honest signs of wear, such as light surface scratches consistent with its age, are visible but do not detract from the overall sharp appearance. The original Rado-signed crown, featuring the anchor logo, is present and sits neatly against the case. The domed crystal is clear, offering an unobstructed view of the vibrant dial. The screw-down caseback is a highlight, deeply engraved with the Rado seahorse emblem, "Water-Sealed," and the reference number 6052233-1, remaining highly legible.
Movement
Powering this Kapell is a beautifully finished 25-jewel automatic movement, identified by the caliber number 2797 stamped near the balance wheel. The movement features an attractive engine-turned pattern on the rotor and bridges, a hallmark of quality finishing from the era. The rotor is clearly signed "RADO 25 JEWELS." Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher result is +47s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring a crocodile-grain pattern and contrasting white stitching. The strap complements the vintage aesthetic of the watch and appears to be in good, wearable condition, fastened by a standard stainless steel pin buckle.
Condition
This Rado Kapell remains in excellent vintage condition. The case retains its strong architectural lines and original finishing techniques, showing only light, age-appropriate handling marks. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved, showcasing its vibrant gradient color without significant flaws. The movement is clean and visually impressive.
