Byôbu (πτυσσόμενο παραπετάσμα) - Χρυσό φύλλο, βερνικωμένο ξύλο, χαρτί, χαρτί μουριάς - Ιαπωνία - Edo Period (1600-1868)
A lively mid-size six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) depicting a group of deer 鹿 (shika) leaping and running through a landscape of tall pampas grasses 薄 (susuki) and sprigs of lespedeza 萩 (hagi). The scene is enveloped by dense shimmering clouds of gold leaf.
Executed in ink and colour on mulberry paper, accented with gold leaf. The composition is bordered by two silk bands: a thin black inner border and a broad blue outer border. Set within a lacquered wooden frame fitted with shaped protective hardware.
Period: Japan – Edo period (1600-1868)

Considering its age, the screen is in good condition, with wear and losses consistent with age on both sides, including discolouration, restorations, and some mounting losses. The paper shows areas of spotting. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
This folding screen is well-suited for mounting flat on a wall and displaying as a single decorative work.
