Bracia Henneberg, Warszawa - Μπολ (Stem bowl) - Επάργυρο
A beautiful silver-plated tazza by Bracia Henneberg (Brothers Henneberg) of Warsaw, Poland, made between 1874 and 1894, based on the early GALW electroplating mark used by the factory during that period.
Bracia Henneberg was one of Warsaw's most prestigious silver-plate manufacturers, founded in 1856 and active until 1939.
The factory produced high-quality electroplated wares for the Polish and Russian Imperial markets.
The tazza sits on a richly cast Rococo Revival base with four scrolled feet, floral cartouches on each face, and an elaborately ornamented stem featuring palmette motifs and C-scroll details.
The bowl has a stepped interior and a worked gadrooned rim.
The piece has a deep, rich patina - we chose not to polish it.
The base carries three stamped marks:
Diamond monogram: the Henneberg factory mark.
B. HENNEBERG WARSZAWA: Bracia (Brothers) Henneberg, Warsaw.
GALW: short for galwanizacja, electroplating.
There is one very small, barely noticeable dent to the rim, and the piece leans very slightly to one side. Both are very minor. Overall, the piece looks fantastic.
Height: 16 cm
Diameter: 16.5 cm
Base: approx. 8.5 × 8.5 cm
Please take a good look at the photos, which are an integral part of the description.
