Κεχριμπάρι Βιρμανίας - Κεχριμπάρι - Natural amber specimen with multiple insect inclusions (Diptera, Nematocera) (χωρίς τιμή ασφαλείας)
Stunning natural Burmese amber specimen containing multiple fossil insect inclusions, clearly visible in good three-dimensional preservation within the resin.
Burmese amber, also known as Myanmar amber, originates primarily from the Hukawng Valley and is renowned for the exceptional quality of its biological inclusions. This amber is dated to approximately 99–100 million years ago, from the Cretaceous period.
The specimen contains several well-preserved insects, predominantly small Diptera belonging to the Nematocera group (primitive flies such as gnats and mosquito-like insects), which are among the most commonly encountered organisms in amber deposits. These delicate insects display elongated bodies, long legs, and fine wing structures, all visible thanks to the good transparency of the amber.
Additionally, the composition suggests the possible presence of a larger winged insect with more developed morphology, creating an appealing and dynamic multi-inclusion scene.
The amber exhibits a rich golden to brown coloration with good clarity, allowing observation of fine anatomical details. A highly attractive piece for collectors and an excellent display specimen, combining aesthetic appeal with paleontological interest.
