The design features an elegant openwork chrysanthemum motif, a highly regarded and traditional symbol in Japanese culture. The entire guard is formed as a blooming chrysanthemum, with numerous radiating petals creating a refined and balanced composition. The chrysanthemum represents longevity, rejuvenation, and nobility, making it a meaningful and auspicious decorative element. The kozuka and kogai apertures are seamlessly integrated into the overall design, maintaining visual harmony without disrupting the floral composition. Copper sekigane inserts remain at the top and bottom of the central nakago-ana. These inserts indicate that the guard was carefully adjusted to fit a blade, reflecting its practical use as a functional sword fitting rather than a purely decorative object. The piece is accompanied by a wooden box from the Showa period. The lid has a minor crack, and the inner fabric shows slight discolouration with a small area of loss around the central raised section. The tsuba shows minor wear and light rust consistent with age and use. Please refer to the photos for details. Dimensions: approx. H 7.7 cm W 7.5 cm T 0.3 cm ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
