The Seiko 5 DX series represents an upgraded tier within the highly successful Seiko 5 lineup of the late 1960s. While standard Seiko 5 models were designed as reliable everyday watches, the DX (Deluxe) variants offered enhanced finishing, improved movements, and more refined case and dial designs.
This reference is powered by the Seiko cal. 6106, one of Seiko’s most important automatic movements of the era, featuring hacking seconds and a robust day-date mechanism. Introduced during a period when Seiko was rapidly advancing its in-house technology, the 6106 became known for its durability and serviceability. The bold cushion-style case and clean sunburst dial seen here are characteristic of late-1960s design, blending sportiness with understated elegance.

Condition:
This Seiko 5 DX is in very nice vintage condition with a strong overall presence. The stainless steel case retains its original shape well, with sharp lines. There are light signs of wear consistent with age, including small scratches and minor marks along the case and lugs. The black sunburst dial is particularly attractive, showing a deep tone with subtle light play. It remains well preserved with minor ageing, clean applied indexes and hands. The lume plots still show a light glow in the dark. The original crystal has been polished and it is free of noticeable scratches.
