Viking Bronze Ornamented Sword Scabbard Chape 9th-11th century A.D. A fine Viking bronze ornamented sword chape, with a shield-shaped body, pointed terminal, and the upper section with projecting terminals. Both faces are decorated with linear ornament, punched dot detailing, and interlaced motifs arranged around a central cross-like design. The upper crest is shaped with a rounded knop and lateral projections. The chape is in excavated condition, with age-related surface wear, green patina, and encrustation, yet retaining its strong form and richly ornamented design. An excellent Viking Age bronze fitting, ideal for collectors of Norse antiquities, early medieval weapon mounts, or archaeological bronze artefacts. Height 5.6 cm.
