Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
Important orientalist female marble bust from Carrara and natural marbles in different tones, attributed to an Italian school of the second half of the 19th century, circa 1860.
The work depicts a young woman veiled with noble and elegant features, characterized by a contemplative gaze and a refined formal balance that recalls the great tradition of academic Italian 19th-century orientalistische sculpture.
The main body of the sculpture is made from a substantial block of Carrara marble, carved entirely by hand with chisel technique. Particularly extraordinary is the workmanship of the veil, characterized by deep, soft and fluid folds, capable of creating refined effects of light and transparency typical of works made by master sculptors of the 19th century.
The composition is embellished with refined decorative elements in different varieties of natural marble: salmon-colored carved roses, finely worked green leaves, and a turned base in red marble.
The ensemble recalls the elegance of important Italian decorative productions in the Grand Tour taste, much appreciated by European aristocracy in the second half of the 19th century.
A work with exceptional presence on stage, with a considerable weight of about 40 kg.
Exceptional conditions for its age: strong and stable structure, absence of structural cracks or significant restorations visible. It presents only a very slight defect on a small corner of a green leaf (about 3–4 mm), as well as minimal signs of time consistent with the age of the work.
Dimensions:
• Total height: 60 cm
• Head height: 21 cm
• Shoulder width: 38 cm
• Base height: 11 cm
• Base diameter: 18.5 cm
• Face width: 12 cm
• Weight: about 40 kg
Notes: some photographs were taken outdoors in natural sunlight to highlight the marble’s brilliance, the quality of the polishing and the true rendering of the colors and hand-carved details.
Shipping and collection:
If the buyer selects one of the already available shipping options with indicated price, the cost will remain unchanged as shown in the listing.
It is also possible to choose pickup or autonomous organization of the transport. In this case the work will nevertheless be carefully packed by the seller with professional protections and a reinforced crate/box suitable for the safe transport of heavy and fragile works.
Pickup available in Varese, Italy.
For countries where there is no automatic shipping rate, the buyer can choose the pickup option and subsequently choose one of the following methods:
• autonomously organize transport via their own courier;
• or request the seller to organize the shipment.
In case the shipment is organized by the seller, the transport cost must be paid before departure on the basis of the proforma invoice issued by the transport company assigned.
