From the Collection of a Radio Shop Owner
In excellent tested & working condition – No reserve.
A highly collectible and visually striking S.N.R. Excelsior 52 valve radio, manufactured in Paris, France, circa 1951–1952. This remarkable model is renowned for its futuristic styling, inspired by the streamlined automotive and emerging space-age aesthetics of the early post-war era. With its dramatic grille, illuminated station dial, and elegant bronze-gold finish, it remains one of the most distinctive French radio designs of the 1950s.
Produced by Société Nouvelle de Radiophonie (S.N.R.), the Excelsior 52 combines innovative engineering with sculptural design, making it highly desirable among collectors of vintage electronics, industrial design, and Mid-Century Modern interiors.
This rare radio retains its original character, including the large multi-band dial, control knobs, internal components, and period-correct chassis. The interior still features its original Excelsior service diagram, a wonderful detail appreciated by collectors.

Functionality
Historical Context
During the early 1950s, French manufacturers competed to create radios that were not only technologically advanced but also stylish centrepieces for the modern home. The Excelsior 52 perfectly reflects this era, combining elegant industrial design with the optimism and futuristic vision that characterized post-war European design.
A superb collector's piece, decorative statement object, and authentic example of French mid-century radio design.
Important Safety Notice
Fully functional, but as with all vintage electrical items, a safety check by a qualified professional is recommended before use. Due to its age, this radio should be operated with appropriate care and in accordance with modern electrical safety standards.
