A Large Chinese blue and white porcelain 'mythical animals & dragon' vase & cover. Dating to 19th Century, Qing Dynasty. A decorative Chinese blue and white porcelain covered baluster vase, painted with various mythical animals & zodiac animals in a landscape, including dragon, qilin Buddhist lion creatures, birds and rockwork. The shoulder is decorated with a band of ruyi-head motifs, while the neck shows upright leaf-shaped panels. The lower section is decorated with vertical blue-ground panels with floral details. The domed cover is surmounted by a small animal-form finial. The decoration is executed in underglaze blue, with a strong decorative Kangxi-style influence. Condition: The cover has minor enamel nicks and frits to the rim, mainly visible on the underside. The vase has a fine hairline to the top rim, and some firing flaws to the body, including small burst glaze bubbles. Overall in good decorative condition. Size: Height 48.5cm
